Vacation in New England

A few weeks ago, we took a week of vacation and went to Rhode Island. I had never been to New England, and was amazed at the breath-taking beauty of the creation all around us. We spent a lot of time driving along scenic roads, following exit signs for many beaches, lighthouses, and other scenic areas. One day we drove all the way along the coast of RI from Connecticut to Massachusetts. Here are a few snapshots of some of our highlight moments throughout the week.

The rocky shoreline was so different than any beach I had been to before.

As part of our cottage stay, we had access to a private beach just across the road and over the sand dunes. This photo is taken on the private beach.

One of our great discoveries was to find Tim Hortons in Connecticut and Maine! We made sure to stop in every morning to get our Tim's.

We took a day trip to Boston, and enjoyed walking around the city.
Here, we stopped at a beautiful park, Boston Commons.

This is Andy's "lost" face. Unfortunately, after leaving Boston Commons, we both got our directions mixed up. We thought we were walking back to the car, but we kept walking, and walking, and walking, and... well, you get the picture. After about three hours, we made it back to the car. We got to see a lot more of Boston than we planned since we learned later that we ended up making a big loop around the main part of the city.

We had dinner one night at Skipper's Dock, a great seafood restaurant.
This view out onto the water from the restaurant dock was beautiful.
The clouds were especially striking as the sun was setting.

My favourite place to be that week - watching the waves crash onto the shore.
