Remembering

Almost ninety-one years.
A long time.
But too short.
It's never long enough.
Always one more word of love to share.
One more hug to give and receive.
The impact you left, you will never know.
Your request of "please don't forget" was a fear unfounded.
We could never forget.
You are etched in the fabric of our lives.
On the palette of our hearts.
You are part of our story.
Tea parties and hide-and-seek.
Noodle soup and pie.
Cookies in a glass jar in the freezer.
Stories of the farm and of days gone by.
Emphasis on family and togetherness.
A greeting of love for each one who crossed your doorstep.
"Nah yo. Komt vada."
Seeing new life in old treasures.
Sharing everything you had.
Hard to believe these are only memories now.
But such precious ones.
We remember.
We give thanks.
We cry a little.
We rejoice a lot.
We celebrate.

Enjoy your coffee break with Grandpa. Be sure to slurp from your saucer.
