Vacation!

We returned earlier this week from a great vacation in Canada with my family. We had a great time! Here are a few highlights...

Attended and participated in the wedding of a very dear friend of mine... what an honour!

Spent a weekend away with extended family at the lake. Although it was a bit too cold for the water, that didn't stop us from eating ice cream at all times of the day, enjoying scrumptious food from the bakery right beside our hotel, playing badminton on the lawn, going for walks, browsing through shops, getting coffee, and just enjoying a lot of good family time!

Patronizing any Tim Horton's restaurant that we could find. I wonder if they noticed a drop in overall sales since we left?!

Being in the wide open spaces. There is nothing like the prairies. If you have never been there, you're missing something. If you are there and wish you were not, think again! :) There is something incredible beyond words about the expanse that you can see when you look out over the fields. I'm reminded of it every time we visit. Probably the most breathtaking for me is the moments right before our plane lands. The view is incredible.

We ate sausage to our hearts' content. Well, almost. We ate a lot of sausage, but we could handle more. Anyone want to bring us some? Our new favourite variety is Spenst, in case you need those details. :)

Sharing times with each of my grandmas. Both are so dear to me. Though we're not home very often, both welcome us with open arms, and usually have a few treats ready too! Reminiscing about Grandpa was a special part of this trip too. Grandma Derksen and I spent some time remembering some of the great memories we have!

Spending time with immediate family. We treasure these moments. We don't often see my family, and hardly ever for 10 days at a time, so we try to make the most of each day. Big thanks to my family for making sacrifices during the week that freed up your schedules to spend more time at home because we were there.

I'm overwhelmed at the moment. Perhaps more reflections will come...
